Christmas Dinner, and looking ahead to 2020
Our last meeting for 2019 is actually our Christmas dinner, to be held at Aubergine Restaurant, on Tuesday 10th December (starting at 7pm as usual). Cost is $40 per head for a wonderful 3-course meal. Please also bring along a $10 gift each, to contribute to the Secret Santy party game! RSVP to pablo@pablogarcia.com no later than Thursday 28 November.
The first meeting of 2020 will be on Tuesday 7th January. See you there!

What a great evening, as the Club celebrated the 10th anniversary of its running the National Conference (2009). Some special guests attended for the evening, to complement those members who were with the club and participated in this mammoth undertaking.
The evening got everyone involved, with fun table topics and excellent speeches.
A very special vote of thanks for the catering of a cake and other delights to enjoy during an extra long half-way break!

WOW! We welcomed 6 guests tonight including Martin from Germany who won the Table Topic of the night. A well run meeting with Lyn as Chair. Word of the evening was Fresh. Ryan gave his second speech on The Media titled A Negative Attraction. Tao's Table Topics theme was tell us about a Festival from another country you have been a part of. Great evaluations from Heidi and Max, Pablo (who won evaluator of the night) and Darran (who was also Time man) Karen L presented an educational on Mentoring with further impromptu participation. We also had an alphabetical Round Robin. Full of fun evening!

We really enjoyed Sara's hospitality while our usual venue at PHAB was closed this week. Lots of stories about our summer holidays were shared along with some beautiful baking treats.
We're back at our usual venue on 31 January 2017 at 7pm. See you there!

Great Meeting!
Darran Watson-Vaughan completed his Competent Communicator with a really interesting 10th speech.
Pablo dazzled us with a 20 minute presentation in which we as an audience became sales representatives in a training session.

11 March - Social Quiz night
Poor turnout for us but briliant result. Second place prize, bar tab to be shared out amoungst the few who managed to attend. - go team Speak up!

Wow, what a great Area F8 contest day on Saturday. North Shore Toastmasters had 3 members representing our Club
Robin competed in the Hmorous Contest and placed 3rd
Pablo competed in the Table Topics Contest and placed 1st
Lois competed in the Table Topics Contest and placed 3rd

3/Sep/2013 - Area Contest
Our club contest meeting was on the 3rd of September. Congratulation Robin, Lois and Pablo. They will be going forward to our area contest on Saturday 14th September,to compete in the Humorous and Table Topics Contest. Looking for fun and impromptu speeches? We look forward to seeing you.

Northshore club has achieved the club goals required to complete Presidents Distinguished for the eighth year running. What does this mean? Simply put it means that is has met communication, leadership, membership and administration goals that ensure that the club continues to be strong and grow. For all those who contributed to this years goals we thank you and look forward to achieving as well again next year.
11/Nov/2012 – Congratulations Kay
The District 72 November convention was held Friday 9 to Sunday 11 November on Hamilton. Kay having won the Area and Division F contest was competing the in the Humorous speech contest. Competing against the 8 other division winners Kay won the contest. Congratulations to Kay for the hard work that she put into her humourous speech and it is great to see her achieve the top prize.

07/May/2012 - Dunedin Conference – Results and Reflection
During 4-6 May 2012 the semi-annual conference for New Zealand was held in Dunedin celebrating 50 years of toastmasters in New Zealand. Eight of our club members made the flight attend the conference.
Carrying on from her run of success, Kay won the most entertaining international speech award and came runner up overall the international speech. Congratulations to Kay on such a fantastic result.
Outside the speaking competitions the world class keynote speakers that delivered inspirational and educational speeches.
Brett Rutledge delivered a keynote speech “The Leaders Voice – What we are really saying to our people and how to fix it”. It was an entertaining and informative speech about words we use and the way we lead.
David Nottage delivered a speech “Dare to dream” that inspired us to set our goals high and accept the opportunities offered to us so we can really achieve.
The tagline of Toastmasters is “Where leaders are made” and one theme of the conference was you cannot make yourself a leader. However you can develop the skills everyday so that when leadership is required you can step up and fill the need.
Overall the conference provided a great opportunity to lean and grow leadership skills.
The next district conference is to be held in November 2012 in Hamilton.
1/May/2012 - Peter Completes Competent Communicator
Congratulations to Peter for successful completion of his first 10 speeches in the Competent communicator manual. Having now completed this goal he now moves on to his next set of 10 speeches in the Advanced Communication series.
29/Apr/2012 - Kay Moves To Next Level
Congratulations to Kay for winning the Division F competition. She now moves to the National International Speech contest. We all wish her well with her speech.
27/Mar/2012 - Congratulations John
Congratulations to John for achieving his Advanced Communicator Silver award with his recent educational session on membership building. To achieve his Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) John completed two advances more advanced manuals and 2 educational sessions. We all wish John well as he now moves on to achieving his goals for the Advanced Communicator Gold.
22/Mar/2012 - Area Contest Results
Congratulations again to Kay who represented our club at our Area International Speech and Evaluation contest. The level of speeches and evaluations where very high and Kay won the International Speech contest and placed second in the evaluation contest.
We now wish Kay well with the next round of division competitions to be held at the Takapuna RSA on the 15th April from 12:00 - 5:00pm Event Reminder
24/Feb/2012 - Club Contest Results
Congratulations to Kay for winning both the International Speech and Evaluation contests this week. We wish Kay well with the next round or Area F8 contests to be held starting 7pm on the Wednesday 21 March at 1st Floor - Red Cross Hall, Wilk Road, Browns Bay, Auckland.
16/Feb/2012 - Club Contest
Our upcomming club contest on the 21st Febrary. This contest will be for our International Speech contest and Evaluation Contest.
The speeches are 5-7 minutes and is jusged on the content of the speech, how it is delivered and the language used.
For the evaluation contest one speech is given and multiple people give thier evaluation of the speech covering how clear focus, recommendations, technique and summary.
Winners of this contest will carry on to the area contest to determine the best speech and evaluator in our area.
Good luck to contestand and welcome to any Guests to come along and watch the club contest.

Congratulations to Kay for her wonderful Humorous speech at the November District 72 convention held from the 4-6 November. Kay was placed second in a very funny and close fought competition.

10/Oct/2011 - Division Contest Results
Congratulations to our club members Kay for winning the Humorous Speech contest and Leo for the runner up position in the Table Topics contest at the resent Division F Speech contest held on the 9th of October.
Kay's win enables her to move on to the New Zealand District 72 Humorous speech contest to be held at the District November convention on November 4-6 to be held in Tauranga.
Should the winner of the Division F Table Topics contest be unable to attend the convention Leo will be eligible to enter the District Table Topics contest.
We wish Kay all the best for the next stage and again congratulate Leo for winning the Area contest and representing our club at the Division F level.
